Hanf number of the first stability cardinal in AECs

چکیده
We show that ℶ(2LS(K))+ is the lower bound to Hanf numbers for length of order property and stability in stable abstract elementary classes (AECs). Our examples satisfy joint embedding property, no maximal model, (<ℵ0)-tameness but not necessarily amalgamation property. also define variations on syntactic properties insofar as it allows index set be linearly ordered rather than well-ordered. Combining with Shelah's theorem, we deduce our can have up any μ<ℶ(2LS(K))+. Boney conjectured needed two type-counting lemmas. solved conjecture by showing independent ZFC.

Hanf Numbers and Presentation Theorems in AECs
This paper addresses a number of fundamental problems in logic and the philosophy of mathematics by considering some more technical problems in model theory and set theory. The interplay between syntax and semantics is usually considered the hallmark of model theory. At first sight, Shelah’s notion of abstract elementary class shatters that icon. As in the beginnings of the modern theory of str...
متن کاملLarge Cardinal Axioms from Tameness in Aecs
We show that various tameness assertions about abstract elementary classes imply the existence of large cardinals under mild cardinal arithmetic assumptions. For instance, we show: Theorem. Let κ be uncountable such that μω < κ for every μ < κ. If every AEC with Löwenheim-Skolem number less than κ is < κ-tame, then κ is almost strongly compact. This is done by isolating a class of AECs that exh...
متن کاملThe Hanf Number of the First Order Theory of Banach Spaces
In this paper, we discuss the possibility of developing a nice i.e. first order theory for Banach spaces: the restrictions on the set of sentences for recent compactness arguments applied to Banach spaces as well as for other model-theoretic results are both natural and necessary; without them we essentially get a second order logic with quantification over countable sets. Especially, the Hanf ...
متن کاملefl students gender and socioeconomic status: the use of politeness strategies in the first and second languages
within the components of communicative competence, a special emphasis is put on the “rules of politeness,” specifically the politeness strategies (brown and levinson, 1978) that speakers deploy when performing the request speech act. this is because the degree of imposition that making a request places upon one’s interlocutor(s) has been seen to be influenced by several factors among which, as ...
The Hanf number for Amalgamation of Coloring Classes
We study amalgamation properties in a family of abstract elementary classes that we call coloring classes. The family includes the examples previously studied in [3]. We establish that the amalgamation property is equivalent to the disjoint amalgamation property in all coloring classes; find the Hanf number for the amalgamation property for coloring classes; and improve the results of [3] by sh...
